Your Future Looks Great And That’s Why You’re Fucked.

If you're someone who always sees the future as brighter, I've got some news for you:
It's not necessarily going to happen.

You might be shocked, thinking, "I thought you were all about positivity!"

Let me clarify.

A healthier body, a happier life, and a better world aren't just fantasies for the future; they are realities shaped by our current identity, behavior, and beliefs.

They start right. this. second.

Please, take a moment to read that again.

As long as you envision an ideal future, that's all you'll ever chase—an ideal that never arrives. Instead, start seeing your life, health, and relationships as already abundant and sufficient right now.

This is the trap many fall into, which I've dubbed "The Danger of Always Trying."

Let's check if this applies to you:
1. Try vs. Do:

  • Many might say, "I'll try to stick to my diet this week." But here, there's no trying. You either do it or you don't.

  • How to overcome? Demand more from yourself. Perfection isn't the goal, mediocrity is not an excuse. Be brutally honest about your desire to change and your commitment to that change.

2. Hope vs. Know:

  • Instead of saying, "I hope next week is better," what if you knew it would be? This shift in mindset is crucial; it's your perspective that defines your experience.

  • How to overcome? Let next week unfold without the weight of hope or fear. Embrace certainty in your efforts and let the results provide feedback, not dictate your emotions.

Your internal dialogue might just be the most critical factor in your journey towards success. Listen to how you speak about yourself and your life.

Consider an example from my own life: In a recent text regarding meeting up with a friend from out of town, I initially wrote, "We are trying not to drive too much once we get into town..." I revised it to, "We will not be driving around much once we get into town..." Notice the shift from tentative to definitive.

  • Don't try to eat healthy; eat healthy.

  • Don't try to go to the gym; go to the gym.

  • Don't hope to lose weight; know you will.

  • Don't just hope this works; make sure it does!

This week, pay attention to your self-talk and habits:

  • Are they propelling you towards an amazing life where you look and feel your best?

  • Or are they holding you back? Are your words and beliefs the source of your current struggles?

I encourage you to share your insights from this reflection. How do your limiting beliefs or words affect your life and health?

Let's continue this conversation.

Have a great week!
