Year-End Reflection: 7 Powerful Questions to Ignite Your Growth in the Coming Year
The end of the year is quickly approaching.
For me this is often a great time to reflect on the year and project into the next year. Hers are some simple questions to reflect on.
1. What did I change my mind on this year?
You will go in to every new year with new goals, ambitions, etc. You will also change your mind on some and find certain things less desirable over time. Regardless, it is important that for growth you aren't tethered to your decisions. Sometimes new information comes along that changes everything. Finding your truth is more important than being right. Take some time to ponder this question. HINT: if the answer is nothing, that's actually not a good thing.
2. What created energy this year?
What really excited you? maybe even made you a little nervous, but pushed you into fulfillment?
Look back at your calendar of events and take inventory on what really lit you up. The goal here is to do more of those things next year.
3. What drained energy this year?
Like the one above, take time and look at your calendar. What was a waste of time and energy this year? Do less of that next year. Hold strict boundaries around this, you don't want to continue making the same mistakes.
4. Who were the sore spots?
This one is hard, but to grow and evolve you must be able to pinpoint WHO takes away from your quality of life. Identify the ones who complain, gossip, pass judgment, don't encourage you, belittle your accomplishments, tell you to grow up and be realistic, etc. The goal here is to minimize or eliminate the time spend with them next year.
Remember, your great life depends on this one.
5. What were you afraid of?
What did you pass up on this year because of fear? was it the side hustle, moving to your dream location, investing in a coach, living your ideal lifestyle?
Identify what you missed out on and the identify why you had the fear.
The goal here is to lean into more for next year. We often suffer more in imagination than reality so dont shy away from this one.
Ask yourself, What was the downside of taking action? What was the upside of taking action?
Lean into more of what you WANT, not what you are afraid of.
6. What were my biggest wins and losses.
What are you most proud of? What are you most grateful for?
What are you biggest regrets, and lessons?
7. What did I learn this year?
It's easy to forget what the year as a whole ha brought you, but sit with this one and really consider from beginning to end, what did I learn?
Have fun with this, use it as a benchmark for next year and give it some real thought.
You will likely come out of it inspired and motivated for next year.
