Unveiling a Powerful Journey to Your Best Self

Good morning and happy Monday!

If you have been getting these weekly emails from me for a while now then you already know that we discuss health, fitness and mindset...You may have also noticed we discuss these things from a very different place than the typical "eat this, lift that" approach (though I like to sprinkle that in from time to time)

This is because your physical and mental transformation come from a very different place.

A little story to begin for today...

I once had an in person client who lost 50 lbs in a very short time, about 5 months to be exact.

She looked and felt amazing in every area of her life. For the first time she look in the mirror and saw someone other than the "chubby girl" she had told me she'd always been.

Months after we wrapped up our coaching I bumped into her outside of the gym and noticed she had put on much of the weight she had lost.

She expressed "life happened" and she regressed back to old habits.

It hit me very hard. In many ways I blamed myself. I had failed her.

I realized later on this was very common. Most people, in fact 96% , of people who lose weight WILL GAIN IT BACK within 12-24 months.

This baffled me.

But why?

I mean, she knew what workouts to do, she knew what foods to eat...She'd been doing it for months.

Why the regression?

We discussed this one evening (we became and still are very good friends) and I learned that even though she knew what to do, she still saw herself as the chubby girl she described to me at the beginning of our coaching. When life got hard, it was easier to cope the way she always knew. Food and alcohol. When new life events or bumps in the road came up, she went back to familiar comforts. I could sympathize and understood. After all, we are all human. Imperfect by nature.

You see we all have stories and these stories drive our behaviors, are the foundation for our emotions and are the reason we act in the ways that we do.

We can "fake it till we make it" all we want. We can use discipline and willpower all we want as my client in the story. If we are lucky, they can stick. We will make a shift through the doing and have enough proof that we are someone new.

The problem is that this takes time and without a new identity around health and fitness...around who we are and the life we desire...we will always go back to the old story before we can create a new one.

This is why we must change our identity around health, fitness, life before we can see the results.

After all, what we experience in front of us is in fact a reflection of who we are inside.

This has become the backbone and "secret" to my coaching.

Yes we break down food, exercise, habits, books, supplements, etc.

But we must also rewrite the stories of WHY this process is important and create a new foundation going forward. One that will breed love, vitality and not shame or guilt that so many of us are using as fuel and motivation.

As long as you have the story that you are someone other than who you want to be, you will suffer through your process.

Let me say it another way, as long as you see yourself as the "fat person" or the person who always struggles, you will continue to be frustrated and never get anywhere.

Its time you turn your pain into purpose and BE your next level self.

In a short while I will be making this whole process available in a in a short, step-by-step, self-paced course.

This course will bring together all the elements that have helped me and my clients make real change in their health and life. Not just a number on the scale but a feeling in your heart, an experience of your life.

The general outline as it currently stands will be broken down into 4 parts.

1. Understanding your past. We must know what is holding us back and identify the stories we've subscribed to. This is important because if you were modeled forms of self-betrayal (putting others first, sacrificing your own needs) then those stories will continue to sabotage you going forward. We must identify and disintegrate them to make real change going forward. This course will help aim to do that.

2. Calibrate to a New Future. Once you've identified what's been holding you back, you can begin to write new stories. Here you create clarity around a new future, one that isn't limited but free to think, feel and dream as big as you imagine. Strong physical and mental health, dream life, relationships, etc. You create the real you.

3. Gather Resources. Here you break down the exercise, habits, food, meals, etc. You put together the tools and actions you'll need in your pursuit of better health and fitness. This will change your life in ways you don't understand if this hasn't been a part of your life. The transformative power of fitness.

4. Embark on the Journey. Now its time to combine action with being. You are who you say you are, your actions, principles and values match that. Here you have your plan and you have prompts, and reminders to keep you going on your path. The journey awaits.

I plan to incorporate some sort of community aspect to the program where people can connect for support, questions and share in their journey and experience. From my experience, sharing the process can make it more profound and real. Something like a Facebook group, but likely not on Facebook.

More details will become available as time goes on.

If this speaks to you I would love to hear from on what else you would like to see from such a course. This won't be for everybody and if this doesn't resonate with you, maybe you know someone for who it would, in which case I kindly ask you to pass this email along.

Either way, I feel it more important now than ever before, to help people reach new heights in their life and health. To think, feel, be, live bigger and better than you thought possible.

For more on what this process has helped others accomplish, you can read testimonials from the Client Stories section on my website, Alexcookhealth.com

Enjoy your week!

As always, thanks for being here.
